The abdominal and iliac fatfolds in nutritional assessment

Abstract
As shown in 2,491 adults and in 6,388 parent‐child comparisons, the abdominal fatfold (taken two centimeters to the right of the umbilicus) and the iliac fatfold (measured just above the crest of the ilium) are not less useful measures of fatness than the conventional triceps and subscapular fatfolds. With intra‐individual correlations up to 0.87–0.90 in adults, the abdominal and iliac fatfolds may be singularly valuable for nutritional appraisal.
