Abstract
To the Editor.— In the era of "Baby Doe," Gross et al (Pediatrics 1983;72:450-458) are to be commended for their forthright presentation of the Oklahoma Children's Memorial Hospital Center policy concerning those children born with meningomyelocele. I would agree with their premise that immediate operation is not indicated but would not agree that prolonged delay is without hazard for increased rates of infection. Nevertheless, certainly time is available for reasoned and considered discussion with at least one, and preferably both parents, prior to the initiation of therapy. Keywords
