Abstract
Gingival recession is the exposure of root surfaces due to apical migration of the gingival tissue margins. Although it seldom results in tooth loss, marginal tissue recession is associated with thermal and tactile sensitivity, esthetic complaints, and a tendency toward root caries. This article reviews the current surgical procedures for the coverage of exposed root surfaces, including their advantages and disadvantages. Today, the outcome of root coverage procedures is predictable, aesthetically acceptable, and, together with the use of guided tissue regeneration, at the forefront of regenerative proceduresKeywords
