Abstract
Results of the Basle-Adolescents Study confirmed an important effect of parent smoking and even more of elder sibling smoking on cigarette consumption of adolescents. Broken home situation and employment of mother were other important determinants the effect of which can, however, be partially explained by a higher frequency of smoking mothers. Keywords
