Abstract
DNP Discussion Continues (with reply) To the Editor:Transitioning advanced nursing practice to the doctoral level represents the natural evolution of the nursing profession and the right move to ensure that nurses are prepared for the highest level of practice. Although the movement toward the practice doctorate for advanced practice nurses (APNs) has been underway for some time, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s (AACN) historic decision in October 2004 to endorse the doctor of Nursing Practice (dNP) as the appropriate degree for nurse specialists has generated much discussion about the future of nursing education.
