Abstract
The usual method of estimating K depends on the oxidimetric titration of nitrite in potassium cobaltinitrite. The technique described here involves the estimation of the Co by means of complexone (complexone 111, the disodium salt of ethylene diamine tetracetic acid is used). The precipitated potassium cobaltinitrite is washed with cold distilled water, decomposed with [image] HC1 and urea and made alkaline with ammonia. Murexide is added as the indicator, and complexone added until there is no further color change. The reproducibility of the method is claimed to be superior to the titration of nitrite with permanganate, the reagents are more stable. The method has been adapted for the estimation of K in serum. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
