Abstract
The partial 16S rRNA sequences of three unknown yellow-pigmented enterococci originating from plants were determined using reverse transcriptase. Comparative analysis of the sequence data with those from all known enterococcal species reveal the plant isolates represent a hitherto unknown species of the genus Enterococcus, from which the name E. sulfureus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is NCDO 2379.Keywords
