Abstract
A simplified classical trajectory Monte Carlo (CTMC) method is proposed for ion-atom collisions. With the introduction of the prescribed classical trajectories for the internuclear motion, the electronic motion in the time-dependent interaction is solved classically. It gives almost identical integrated cross sections with the ‘‘exact’’ CTMC calculations. Differential cross sections are also calculated for p+H→H+p. The results are in excellent agreement with the experiments. Keywords
