Abstract
A mathematical method is described for comparing spectrochemical results, by calculating and comparing the areas of the contour ellipses which surround the points of density scatter diagrams. By employing this comparison method, it was found that, when using lithium carbonate as a buffer for plant ash analysis, the best results are obtained when the arc is burned with a surrounding air stream, as first suggested by Stallwood, but with a constant current generator used as the energy source. Keywords
