Abstract
Acquired, benign, nonparasitic cysts related to the pancreas can be classified anatomically as intrapancreatic and extrapancreatic. These cysts can also be divided according to their cause into postpancreatitis and traumatic cysts. Postpancreatitis cysts, intrapancreatic or extrapancreatic, communicate with the pancreatic ducts; treatment is directed at ductal decompression to relieve the pancreatitis. Traumatic cysts are extrapancreatic; if they persist, they are treated by cystic decompression, preferably by cystojejunostomy. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
