Studies of the Diet of Students at Edinburgh University

Abstract
A record and analysis of one week''s diet of each of 298 students at Edinburgh University revealed no real calorie, protein or calcium shortage though many students had insufficient midday meals. Students'' diets were deficient in vit. A and often also in vit. C. The effects of deficiencies were not readily apparent though of 40 women students specially examined, 10% had hemoglobin levels below 90%. Twenty-five tables and 2 figs., built up from log books kept in prescribed fashion by the students, illustrate the analysis of these measurements, differentiating between the sexes and generally between those living at home and those in lodgings.
