Inhibition of Papain-Induced Emphysema in the Hamster by Human Alpha1-antitrypsin

Abstract
Human alpha1-antitrypsin administered intratracheally in the hamster prevented the development of emphysematous changes induced by papain aerosol exposure. Inhibition appeared dose-related and detectable by both physiologic and histologic methods.
