Abstract
Four species of Ophiostomataceae were found associated with Dendroctonus engelmanni in dead or dying Picea engelmannii. Most conspicuous and consistent associate was newly described Leptographium engelmannii. A peritherial fungus was also consistently present in main entrance galleries of bark beettle and is described as a n. sp., Ophiostoma truncicola. Widely distributed Endoconidiophora coerulescens was sometimes present. Fourth sp., Ophiostoma bicolor was isolated several times from beetles from dead spruce but was also isolated from several other sources in Canada. Exact relationship of beetles and fungi is not definitely known but Leptographium, especially, would seem to be most closely associated with Engelmann spruce beetle. Keywords
