Abstract
The authors demonstrate, by calculation and discussion of experimental data, that a change in nearest-neighbour spacing is not sufficient of itself to account for changes in physical properties when metallic glasses are annealed. The authors examine the consequences of this result for several current models of structural relaxation. Keywords
