Abstract
In old female rats there was an impaired tolerance to carbohydrates, a decreased sensitivity to insulin and an impaired regulation of the level of nonesterified fatty acids in blood under glucose loading. These alterations could be observed already in young rats, while inducing persistent estrus by autoimplantation of the ovary into the tail after ovariectomy and after dimethylbenz[a]anthracene injection. In old rats with induced persistent estrus a diabetic character of the sugar curve was noted. The data indicate an increased threshold of the hypothalamic sensitivity to homeostatic inhibition with glucose in rats in aging, experimentally induced persistent estrus and carcinogen injection. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
