Abstract
The coincidence spectra of molecular orbital x rays produced in the scattering of a beam of 26.85-MeV I ions by Au at laboratory angles of 1.5, 3.5, and 10.5 deg have been measured. Analysis of the data gives the energy dependence and approximate cross section for the molecular-orbital x rays for the combined system with as a function of impact parameter. The results confirm and extend the conclusions drawn from previous measurements of the x-ray singles spectrum.
