Abstract
In the theory of cavity resonators, the assumptions are frequently made that every irrotational function can be represented as the gradient of a scalar and that every divergenceless function can be represented as the rotation of a vector. These are, however, not necessarily correct. This paper corrects these misleading assumptions and describes "the theory of cavity resonators" which supplement the classical theory of Slater. Keywords
