Abstract
In normal and leukemic leukocytes, of the 7 tetrahydrofolic acid (THFA) enzymes examined only 4 were evidenced: formyl-THFA synthetase, methylene-THFA dehydrogenase, serine hydroxymethylase and cyclohydrolase. The activity of these enzymes is of the same magnitude in normal cells. In blastic cells of both chronic myeloid and acute leukemia the enzymatic content is higher than that of mature cells. In leukemic subjects it decreases with the improvement of the peripheral blood picture. In the lymph nodes of some subjects with malignant lymphomas the same enzymes are found as in leukocytes. In human liver tissue all the THFA dependent enzymes were seen. Keywords
