Abstract
THE increasing concern over environmental mercury contamination throughout the world was spotlighted by the International Conference on Environmental Mercury Contamination held September 30 to October 2, 1970, at the University of Michigan.The symptoms of alkylmercury poisoning, contrary to those of inorganic mercury intoxication, involve chiefly the central nervous system.1 2 3 4 5 6 7 More or less in order of ascending severity, they include the following: paresthesia of mouth, lips, tongue, hands, feet; inability to concentrate, lack of interest at home and at work, weakness, apathy and extreme fatigue; difficulty in swallowing and in articulating words; concentric constriction of visual fields ("tunnel vision"), with . . .Keywords
