Abstract
This paper examines the relationship between economic adaptation and ethnic identity change among the Otomi Indians of Central Mexico. As the Otomies are recruited into more viable economic systems they undergo a change of ethnic identity and social status. The data were gathered through personal interviews and participant observation. Keywords
