Abstract
The influence of external polarization on the kinetics of stress corrosion cracking where growth is controlled by an anodic dissolution process has been evaluated analytically. The analysis predicts the distribution of electrode potential within a crack and theoretical results have been compared with experimental measurements recorded from a model electrode system. The influence of external polarization on the kinetics of crack growth in low alloy steel/hydroxide and aluminum alloy/acidic chloride systems has been evaluated. Keywords
