Abstract
Using a model Hamiltonian initially formulated by Pytte and Feder (1969) and later by Gillis and Koehler (1974) for describing a displacive-type ferroelectric, the effects of stress and strain have been included and the thermal expansion coefficient as well as the pressure coefficient of the transition temperature have been calculated. The thermal expansion coefficient ( alpha i) shows a finite jump at the transition temperature and the jump Delta alpha i is proportional to the pressure coefficient of the transition temperature dTc/dPi.Keywords
