Elimination of the Compton Component in Amorphous Scattering

Abstract
Experimental elimination of the Compton component in amorphous scattering has been obtained by using crystal monochromated Rh Kα radiation (λ=0.615 Å). The scattered radiation from the sample falls upon a sheet of Mo (λK edge=0.620 Å). The fluorescence radiation, which is received in a Kr filled counter placed near the Mo, is closely a measure of the unmodified scattering since most of the modified scattering cannot excite fluorescence. The counter reading is high enough for direct chart recording.
