Abstract
A synoptical key to 236 spp. in 8 genera is given. Included are diagnostic characters for each sp., as well as substrata, type of rot, geographic distribution, pertinent synonymy, critical notes, and an index. Poria alpina Litsch. is reported from North America for the first time, and extensions of range are given for many species. Ganoderma annularis (Fries) Gilbertson (Polyporus annularis Fries) and Ganoderma brownii (Murr.) Gilbertson (Elfingia brownii Murr.) are new combinations.
