Abstract
For the purpose of implementing computer-based distribution automation, the electrical distribution system to which it is applied must be defined in digital terms for development of an accurate data base and correct and efficient control functions. This paper describes the method used in a current Ontario Hydro project, employing modular elements for system description. This is seen as one of the approaches which might lead to eventual standardization of digital representation of distribution systems and operating software for this purpose. Keywords
