Abstract
The experimental setup to prepare free liquid films (from solutions of hexadecyltrimethylammoniumbromide) and to perform light scattering experiments on these films is described. Dynamic light scattering experiments concerning the relaxation of the squeezing mode (i.e., periodic thickness fluctuations) are reported for films of thickness between 35 and 100 nm and for mode wavelengths between 2.3 and 17.9 μm. In part of the wavelength regime good agreement is found between the experiments and existing hydrodynamic and classical colloidal interaction theories. Keywords
