Abstract
In this chapter, I will look at acculturation, how behavioral scientists define this process, some operational procedures, and some specific findings relevant to the world of work. What is acculturation? Unfortunately, no simple answer can be given to such a straightforward question. As Olmedo (1979) and others have indicated, acculturation is one of the most elusive, yet ubiquitous constructs in the behavioral sciences. Consider the following vignettes. Maricela is a history professor at a Mexican university. She is currently on sabbatical in the Southwestern United States, writing a book.
