Current Viewpoints concerning the Algebraic Approach to Nuclear Collective Motion

Abstract
A brief survey is given of some of the salient ideas developed over the past two decades in the program on nuclear collective based on the equations of motion, culminating in recent work involving the direct application of a variational method and parametrization by boson mappings. The multilevel pairing model is used throughout for illustration.
