Isophytosterin im Kaugummi. (Vorbericht.)

Abstract
Lifschutz had previously reported that the alcoholic extract of chewing gum (chicle?) contained, in addition to phytosterol, a crystalline body which had the same relationship to phytosterol that isocholesterol had to cholesterol. Further evidence of the analogy of the isophytosterol to isocholesterol is presented in the absorption spectrum using the Liebermann reaction on an alcoholic extract of the gum and on a saponified extract. Directions are given for preparing crystalline isocholesterol from lanolin.
