Abstract
In this study the gonadotropic substance present in the urine of normal [female][female] at the presumed time of ovulation was compared with the gonadotropins found in pregnancy urine, menopause urine, pregnant mare serum and the ant. lobe. The comparison was made on the basis of ovarian wt., seminal vesicle wt., degree of luteinization and testicular development. The normal gonadotropin was found to be qualitatively identical with that found in menopause urine, which is believed to be secreted by the ant. lobe. On the basis of this and certain other findings, a tentative explana- tion of the mechanism of ovulation is suggested. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
