Abstract
Ten normal speakers, 6 persons diagnosed on the basis of their speech and oral examination as having palatal inadequacy, 24 persons with surgically repaired cleft palates were compared for palatopharyngeal closure by cinefluoro-graphy. Six patterns were seen: 1. Closure completed before phonation and maintained; 2. Usual closure breaks from closure; 3. Sometimes closed during the course of phonation; 4. Palatal movement within 3 millimeters of closure; 5. Palatal movement but no approximation of closure; 6. No palatal movement. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
