Non-Pressor Humoral Substance From the Ischemic Rabbit's Kidney Which Causes Renal Vasoconstriction

Abstract
In the rabbit, complete occlusion of the pedicle of one kidney for a period of 5-15 min. followed by restoration of blood flow results, after a lag of about 10 sec. in a brief period of blanching of the opposite kidney. Evidence is presented indicating that this effect is mediated by some substance formed in the ischemic kidney and carried by the blood stream to the opposite kidney or some other site of action. The substance which causes blanching is non-pressor, therefore not renin.
