THE EFFECT OF EPINEPHRINE ON MUSCLE AND LIVER GLYCOGEN

Abstract
Samples of muscle and liver from 24 hr.-fasted cats under amytal or nembutal anesthesia were analyzed for glycogen content. Control cats showed practically no loss of muscle glycogen in a 3 hr. period; liver glycogen fell 2% in 11/2 hrs. and 25% in 3 hrs. Cats receiving 0.1 mgm. epinephrine per kgm. subcutaneously showed practically no changes in muscle glycogen; liver glycogen was reduced 19% in 11/2 hrs. and 35% in 3 hrs. Cats receiving 1.0 mgm. epinephrine per kgm. showed a small but definite decrease in muscle glycogen and a reduction in liver glycogen of 88% in 3 hrs.This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
