Abstract
Two cases of plasma cell myeloma characterized by elaboration of the rare immunologic type D-myeloma protein are reported. The clinical, radiological, and morphological features were indistinguishable from other usual immunologic types of multiple myeloma. Furthermore, the serum electrophoretic patterns were normal and the conventional immunoelectrophoretic analyses failed to disclose the presence of an anomalous precipitation arc. The D-myeloma type of serum protein abnormality was identified by Ouchterlony and immunoelectrophoretic analyses using specific anti-IgD serum.
