Abstract
The presence of striated myofibrils in the vacuolated cells of the pharynx of gymnolaemate bryozoans has been confirmed. The action of these musculo‐columnar cells is to cause the walls of the pharynx, which is triangular in cross‐section, to flex outward thereby sucking in food particles through the mouth. Keywords
