Abstract
Values of log Ki, ΔH°i, and ΔS°i valid at zero ionic strength in aqueous solution are reported for the reaction MGi 2 –i+ G–= MGi+ 1 1 –i where G = glycine and M = Mn(i= 0), Fe(i= 0), Co(i= 0,1,2), Ni(i= 0,1,2), Cu(i= 0,1), Zn(i= 0,1,2), and Cd(i= 0,1,2) at 10,25, and 40°. The ΔC°pi, values calculated from the temperature dependence of ΔH°i indicate that solvent effects for the various metal complexes are similar. Values of pK, ΔH°, and ΔS° valid at zero ionic strength are determined or summarized from the literature for proton ionization from glycine at 10, 25, and 40° and a value of ΔC°p is calculated from the temperature variation of the ΔH° values. Keywords
