Abstract
18 children -- with unilateral or bilateral fractures of the condyle -- were treated with conservative measures only. The clinical and radiological results showed a restitution mainly with children of less than 10 years whereby the true repositioning of the dislocated condyloid process is of no importance. Ankylosis, pseudoarthrosis, nearthrosis, or microgenia were not found in any of the tested children. The wire-and-acrylic splint according to Schuchardt is especially appropriate for the conservative treatment.
