Abstract
Studies were reviewed in which patients who received vigabatrin underwent cognitive testing. The overall results were categorized into five areas of cognitive function: reception, attention, intellectual function, memory, and psychomotor function. Overall, the studies showed either no detrimental effects or, in some cases, slightly improved function. It is speculated that a relationship exists between GABA and the results of these studies because vigabatrin enhances the GABAergic mechanism in the CNS.Keywords
