Abstract
An overwhelming majority of brains of old human subjects show at least some degree of cortical atrophy, diffused or regional in distribution. The degree of cortical atrophy is not necessarily proportionate to the age of the patient. The cytoarchitecture is surprisingly well preserved in very old brains, but cell changes were persistently present. Keywords
