Abstract
Summary: Uterine activity was recorded in 3 patients before and after the delivery of the first twin in order to study the effect of a sudden and large alteration of uterine volume upon uterine function. Uterine activity continued immediately after delivery of the first twin, this result being similar to comparable experiments carried out upon rabbit uteri. Alteration in the quality and quantity of uterine activity also occurred and the variation in these responses in the 3 patients probably was dependent upon the mechanical and physiological factors discussed. Keywords
