Abstract
Anemia by hemorrhage was maintained at a constant level, and hemoglobin regeneration tested by withdrawal of blood according to the method of Whipple. Results are given with adequate intake of Fe and liver, with liver alone, and Fe salts alone. It was concluded that body Fe depletion was the determining factor, and that liver feeding caused no greater hemoglobin regeneration than an adequate Fe intake alone. Attention was directed to the fundamental difference between this and pernicious anemia.
