Abstract
(A letter to the Editors)[long dash]Biosynthesis of chlortetracycline during the cultivation of Streptomvces in presence of Br- is inhibited by 2-thiouracil, thiourea, 2-mercaptobenzothiazol and thionalide, of which 2-mercaptobenzothiazol is completely inhibitory even in absence of Br- on the chlorination. Since these 4 inhibitors chelate with Cu++, the participation of Cu++ in microbiological chlorination is suggested. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
