Abstract
The distribution and morphology of Laminaria cucullata were investigated and compared with those of L. hyperborea and L. digitata. Transplant and hybddisation experiments were carried out with the former two entities. It was shown that L. cucullata has in the past been confused with L. digitata var. cuclluata. It was demonstrated that L. cucullata and L. hyperborea are phenotypically distinguished and are thus ecads. A new forma, L. hyperborea f. cucullata, is proposed. Similariy L. digitata var. cucullata is an ecad and should become L. digitata f. cucullata. Keywords
