Abstract
An experimental demonstration of the applicability of zone‐plate coded imaging (ZPCI) techniques on a microscopic scale has been completed. The electron emission from microscopic test‐pattern sources was imaged. Optically reconstructed images were compared with numerically calculated image distributions and the agreement was good. These experiments verified the theoretical resolution limit on a scale less than 10 μm, while also demonstrating the applicability of ZPCI to charged‐particle imaging. This coded imaging technique appears well suited to high‐resolution imaging of short‐wavelength radiations (x rays and charged particles) from laboratory plasmas of limited size.
