Abstract
This study replicated Gleser and Ihilevich's Defense Mechanism Inventory-MMPI correlational matrices for a non-psychiatric sample of 113 college students (49 males and 64 females). Fewer significant correlations were obtained for the student population than for the original outpatient psychiatric group. There was, however, substantial agreement between the two studies in that significant correlations overlapping in the two studies were all in the same direction. The lower number of significant correlations for the female college students suggests less consistency for females in relationships between preferred defenses and dimensions of psychopathology. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
