Abstract
Sintered samples have been prepared of a number of silicides formed by the Groups IVa, Va and VIa transition metals and silicon. Magnetic susceptibility meesurements have been made at room temperature and 500°c and the electrical resistivity and temperature coefficient of resistivity determined for the range 20°c to 120°c. The results are discussed in relation to the type of bonding present in these compounds and it is shown that the transition metal silicides are essentially metallic in character. Keywords
