Abstract
ALTHOUGH arthritis is the most common manifestation of disseminated gonococcal infection, recovery of Neisseria gonorrhoeae from synovial fluid is noted in only a few cases.1 2 3 4 5 This report describes the recovery of N. gonorrhoeae from the "sterile" synovial fluid of a patient with gonococcal arthritis by means of a medium developed for the propagation of gonococcal L-forms in vitro.Case Report*A 32-year-old woman was hospitalized on April 19, 1970, with pain and swelling of the left wrist of 10 days' duration.
