Heterophile Antibodies of Infectious Mononucleosis

Abstract
The serum-sickness antigen was prepd. from guinea-pig kidney, and the mononucleosis antigen was extracted from beef erythrocyte stroma. A series of 36 serums from patients clinically diagnosed as infectious mononucleosis was analyzed by using these purified antigens as absorbing agents. The majority of the infectious mononucleosis serums tested contained both anti-mononucleosis and anti-serum-sickness antibodies, the former in greater amt. than the latter, but certain of these serums contained only anti-mononucleosis antibodies.
