Studies on Distribution of Dicumarol

Abstract
Dicumarol (3,3[image]-methylenebis[4-hydroxy-coumarin]) was given orally to rats and chicks in doses causing marked increase of prothrombin time. Some of the animals were given vitamin K1 intravenously in massive doses which greatly reduced the effect of the ingested Dicumarol. The concentration of Dicumarol in whole liver, the subcellular fractions (nuclei, mitochondria and supernatant) and blood was determined and found to be essentially the same whether vitamin K1 was given or not. The tissue distribution of Dicumarol in the chick was like that in the rat.
