Abstract
The phase structure of the coupled SU(3) gauge-Higgs system is studied by Monte Carlo Simulations. Analyses are carried out using 34 lattice for the Higgs field in the fundamental representation of the gauge group SU(3). It is found that the resultant phase structure is very similar to that of the SU(2) case. The crossover of the SU(3) pure gauge model persists even if the symmetry is broken by introducing scalar fields, and in the limit of the infinite breaking parameter it reduces to that of the pure gauge system with the residual SU(2) symmetry. Keywords
